Membership Info

The Chain Gang is an Internet club for enthusiasts of the BMW F650. Membership is open to all who appreciate the versatility of this durable chain-driven single. The Black Belt Gang is part of The Chain Gang and membership is restricted to those who own a Scarver, the belt-driven F650. Naranjas is another group within The Chain Gang and is just for owners of the 1997 Orlando Orange ST model of the F650.

The cost of a lifetime membership is $50.00. An associate membership costs $20.00 and must be tied to a full membership. Make all checks and money orders payable to SR JOHNSON. The Chain Gang is in process of getting 501 status and this will keep accounts correct until that is completed.

The goals of this world-wide organization are safe and enjoyable motorcycling and charitable works for children and the homeless.

The club began in December of 1996 and is chartered with BMW MOA (#650) and BMW RA (#286). The name derives from the chain drive of the original F650 and the practice of prisoners working in road gangs in the American South, hence, all club members are referred to as Inmates.

The Forum section of the website is open to all, and at this point, is free for all to use. Lurkers are welcome, but if you visit often, you will see the value that the site provides. Please join as an Inmate. Memberships pay the cost of running the sight.

Club members enjoy club rides and rallies, as well as special prices on batteries, chains and sprockets, and other items. A quarterly newsletter offers stories, tech tips, and company contacts for products particular to the F650. Club members can ride to Mexico twice a year on club trips at about half the cost of tour company rates. Wrenching rallies provide opportunities for Inmates to learn how to do mechanical repairs of all types. DVDs are available showing exact procedures for working on your F650 at home.

The FAQ section of the website is a superb resource for anyone wanting to know minute details about what makes an F650 tick. These are favorites with BMW shop mechanics.

There are club t-shirts, patches, decals, etc. available for members that are listed in each copy of Sprockets. A listing of these will be available soon on site under Special Interest.
